Protect the Shoreline

Native vegetation that is physically removed from the water and along the natural shoreline is a big loss to the marina and lake because water and shoreline vegetation creates a buffer zone and filtration system crucial to the health of the lake.

Natural shoreline plants and aquatic vegetation provide food and shelter for wildlife, birds and aquatic life, support spawning beds for fish, enhance water quality, prevent soil erosion, and trap harmful runoff containing nutrients that feed algae. Vegetation along the shoreline also muffles noise from watercraft, provides privacy, and enhances your property values.

One of the best things you can do to protect your shoreline is to leave it alone or you can become a lake steward and replant the buffer if it's been cleared, with species native to the area.
